The Ultimate Flower Power Gift Guide

If you’re anything like us, you’ve got a special place in your heart for all the things that remind us of the Flower Power era. And we’re not just talking about music. We still love a great tie-dye pattern, daisies make us smile and while we may never be able to look as cool as John Lennon did in those round glasses, we still can’t help trying them on every time we spot them in a store.

With that in mind, and with the holidays right around the corner, we put together this far out list of great gifts for the Flower Power fan in your life.

We’ve always cherished our vinyl collection, so it was thrilling to hear that more vinyl albums than CDs will be sold this year – the first time since 1986. And even though a new Bob Dylan album will run you about $20 today, compared with just around $3 for every record back in the late ‘60s, we’re off to find albums by every Flower Power Cruise artist to gift to a few of our closest friends this holiday season.

Just like vinyl, we still love reading our favorite books over and over again. “Catch-22,” “Stranger in a Strange Land,” “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” or anything by Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac and Kurt Vonnegut are our picks for stocking stuffers.

Levi’s debuted their 70505 Trucker jacket and 505 jeans in 1967, and we’ve been buying them ever since. We’re thinking this is the year we should share the joy and give a set to someone special.

Peter Max’s artwork is not only iconic, it’s also guaranteed to make you smile. From keychains to original paintings, there’s a Peter Max gift that fits every budget.

We know they’ve become a bit stereotypical, but only the coolest homes had lava lamps when they first came out. We’ve coveted them ever since and have a feeling you wouldn’t turn one down if it ends up under the tree this year.

There’s nothing like a simple Frisbee for your friends who like to stay active and have fun doing it. We’ve always been partial to the red ones but agree that you can’t go wrong with any color!

Speaking of being active, we’ve loved watching yoga gain popularity over the years and a gift card to any kind of class - be it Kundalini, Vinyasa or Bikram - is definitely on our wish list.

And a fully-restored, vintage Volkswagen Beetle or Bus would bring a whole lot of holiday cheer and keep it going for the years that follow. Back in the ‘60s, a brand-new Bus would set you back about $2,500. In a year, Volkswagen will release its electric cousin, the ID Buzz, with a price tag rumored to be anywhere from $40,000 to $70,000.

But we, and all of our Flower Power brothers and sisters, know that the greatest gift of all is PEACE and LOVE, which we’re sending to each and every one of you this holiday season!
