Just announced The Buckinghams have been added to the lineup!
One of the most beloved and respected Chicago bands ever to explode onto the national scene,
The Buckinghams’ live concerts pack power and bring back great memories. Their chart-topping 60s hits and popular 70s favorites still electrify audiences around the world with dynamic vocals and solid harmonies. We are thrilled they will be joining us on the Flower Power Cruise 2016.
Billboard Magazine named the Buckinghams “The Most Listened to Band in America” after their “Kind of a Drag” hit #1 in 1966. It was quickly followed by seven national chart hits, 15 singles and eight acclaimed albums, drawing invitations to perform on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Smothers Brothers’ Comedy Hour, American Bandstand, and more. At one point, The Buckinghams landed three songs in the Top 10 simultaneously, “Don’t You Care,” “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy,” and “Hey Baby, They’re Playing Our Song.” Those tracks, along with “Lawdy Miss Claudy,” “Susan” and “Back in Love Again,” remain staples on oldies and classic rock stations to this day, delighting their longtime fans and winning over new ones.
The Buckinghams reformed in 1980 and began touring in 1985 featuring original members Carl Giammarese and Nick Fortuna (along with Dave Zane on guitar/vocals, Rocky Penn on drums/vocals and Bruce Soboroff on keyboards/vocals), currently headline festivals, play arenas, theatres and casinos around the world. They performed at the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Ball and the Bipartisan Agricultural Ball during the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Week in Washington, DC.
In 2009, The Buckinghams were inducted into the prestigious Hit Parade Hall of Fame. They released “Flashback” in 2014, an album of their greatest hits and a concert DVD/CD, “Up Close”, in 2010.
